The Canned Ingredient That Adds Moisture And Flavor To Turkey Burgers

Aug 20, 2023

Turkey comes in many forms, but burgers have become an increasingly popular way to enjoy them. A healthier alternative to beef, the lean meat in turkey patties has lower saturated fat and is high in zinc and vitamin B6. Plus, it doesn't give people the same bloated feeling after eating it as red meat.

There are myriad options for turkey burgers, but nothing beats making them from scratch. Selecting the type of ground turkey to be used as the base lends more control over the finished product, and additional ingredients and flavors only add to personalization options. As much as the low fat content in turkey is a boon, however, it is also a drawback; a healthier burger has the potential to also be a drier one.

If precautions aren't taken to make the turkey patty extra juicy, the result can be a bland, chalky burger. This is where canned creamed corn, of all things, comes into play. Believe it or not, it can be a game-changing ingredient for juicy turkey burgers. Mixing the sweet vegetable into ground turkey produces succulent, flavorful turkey burgers every time.

Creamed corn is sweet corn, mixed together in a whipped bed of cream, sugar, and butter. Perhaps best known as a side dish for Thanksgiving, it probably isn't the first thing most people would think of when it comes time to throw some burgers on the grill. But since it id frequently eaten alongside turkey, perhaps the concept of combining it with the bird shouldn't be so strange.

Pour ground turkey and creamed corn into a bowl together and combine. The two ingredients might not pack much taste on their own, but once additional ingredients are added, it comes together perfectly. Mix in fresh parsley, minced garlic, and Cajun seasoning for burgers that are equally juicy and delicious.

Once everything is combined, separate and shape the mixture into patties. Heat up a skillet and pour in olive oil to keep the patties moist. With the skillet on medium heat, add in the patties, flipping them every few minutes until they're 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Place between two buns, compliment with toppings and serve accordingly.
